The Spark That Ignites A Flame In Our Community.

Be a part of something big.

Promoting unity in our community.

Our goal is to inspire Wood County for the better. Through social media, public events, and new infrastructure we are working to reignite the family-like community we possess the power to be.

Since 2012, the St. Paul Baptist Church and Mineola citizens have dreamed of building concrete ramps, but the cost has always made it unobtainable. In November, dozens of skaters and skatepark professionals came together to make that dream a reality. We helped raise $55,000 in donations and grants, and more than matched that value in donated materials to complete phase 1 of the Iron Horse Skatepark.

The park was designed in part by the GRIND Program skaters, who collaborated with Bobby King, lead designer of Dragon Concrete, to plan a park Mineola skaters really wanted. Hundreds of skaters have flocked from Dallas, Tyler, Longview, and Austin to check out the beautiful and unique park. It’s not finished yet! We are currently fundraising for Phase 2, which, among other things, will provide a small skate supply shop and public bathroom.

Watch a tour of the new park additions below!

Our Projects

We are the community members of Wood County. Flint & Steel is a Mineola-based youth and young-adult support organization dedicated to providing healthy outlets for self-development. We aim to meet every community member where they’re at, and help them get one rung higher up the ladder to where they want to be!

Prove you’re not a Pawn!

Are you the King of strategy? Would you like to become one? Flint & Steel is hosting the Tuesday Knights chess club for youth and families every Tuesday from 6-8 PM. Come learn the game of all games on tournament-size boards with United States Chess Federation Certified Coaches.

TrejoBoards

A mom & son owned and operated business, TrejoBoards was established in 2012 to empower at-risk youth and provide a high-quality pro-style board at a price less-privileged kids can actually afford. Made and pressed in the US, designed in Tyler, and distributed all across East Texas, TrejoBoards has helped us provide boards and equipment to countless skaters at our park.
